New Date Announced for Graduate-Level Examination: Relief for Thousands of Youth in Uttarakhand
After a long wait, the new dates for the graduate-level recruitment examination have finally been declared. This is the very examination that was previously cancelled due to a paper leak. Now, having fulfilled all requisite formalities, the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission has decided to conduct the examination again, thereby providing candidates with another opportunity to demonstrate their preparedness.
Examination was cancelled due to paper leak
The graduate-level examination was originally conducted across the state on September 21, 2025. However, during the examination itself, certain sections of the question paper went viral on social media. This incident caused a massive uproar throughout the state. A large number of candidates raised questions regarding the transparency of the examination and launched protest demonstrations. Observing the escalating gravity of the situation, the government was compelled to intervene, and ultimately, the examination was cancelled.
CM ordered a CBI Inquiry
Given the seriousness of this entire episode, the Chief Minister had to step in and ordered a CBI inquiry to investigate the matter. Since then, a state of uncertainty regarding the new examination date had prevailed among the candidates. Young aspirants had been persistently demanding that a new date be announced as soon as possible to ensure that their hard work and preparation did not go to waste.
Graduate-Level Examination Now Scheduled in May 2026
Taking decisive steps in this direction, the Commission has now announced the new dates. The examination for technical posts will be conducted on May 3, while May 17 has been designated as the date for other posts. This time, special arrangements have been put in place to ensure that the examination is conducted in a more transparent and secure manner.
Exam to be Held in CBT Mode to Prevent Paper Leaks and Cheating
The Commission has clarified that the examination will be conducted in a tablet-based format (CBT mode) to significantly minimize the likelihood of incidents such as paper leaks. Under this recruitment process, a total of 57 vacancies across various state departments are to be filled. A total of 5,872 candidates have applied for these positions. Interestingly, the highest number of applications has been received for the Technician and Surveyor posts; consequently, these positions are expected to witness the most intense competition.
