PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Expressing strong dissatisfaction on the slow progress of various ropeway projects in the State while chairing a review meeting at his residence on Monday, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami instructed the executing agencies to accelerate the work so that they become operational by November 9-the State Foundation Day. CM directed the implementing agencies concerned to submit progress reports on the ropeway projects to the chief secretary within 15 days. He said that he would review the progress of these projects again soon while making it clear that unnecessary delays would not be tolerated. He also instructed the district magistrates concerned to regularly monitor the proposed and under-construction ropeway projects in their jurisdictional areas and to maintain constant contact and coordination with the implementing agencies. “The departments and implementing agencies concerned must take prompt action and work collaboratively to resolve any issues that may delay the implementation of these projects, including land transfers, forest land issues and departmental approvals among others,” he said. Stressing on the fact that ropeway connectivity is crucial for the State, given its geographical conditions, he said that once completed, they would facilitate access to religious and tourist destinations while reducing traffic congestion on the roads. “Ropeway projects will enhance tourism activities and create local employment and self-employment opportunities,” the CM stated. He emphasised that all projects should prioritise passenger safety, environmental sustainability and future needs. He reviewed the progress of the Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib ropeway projects, in particular. Besides, the progress of the Dehradun-Mussoorie Ropeway Project figured prominently in the course of the review meeting. He directed all concerned to expedite the pace of the execution. While noting that Mussoorie experiences harrowing traffic congestion, particularly during the tourist season, he stated that the ropeway would provide an alternative and convenient transportation option to help alleviate this traffic ordeal. While reviewing the status of the proposed ropeway projects at Yamunotri, Purnagiri and Kunjapuri, the CM ordered that pending processes at various levels be completed as a priority. “No issues, including those related to lands, should be allowed to come in the way of these projects,” he averred. The meeting also discussed proposals related to the Integrated Ropeway Project in Haridwar and Triveni Ghat-Neelkanth Ropeway. The meeting also included review of various ropeway projects connected to National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), Uttarakhand Metro Rail, Urban Infrastructure and Building Construction Corporation (UKMRC) and Tourism department.
