PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun A delegation of the Parliamentary Committee on Other Backward Classes (OBC) Welfare met chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at his residence on Saturday. Welcoming the delegation, the CM said that the committee plays a vital role in achieving social justice and inclusive development. He said that the State has legal and institutional mechanisms for the welfare of the OBC. The CM claimed that the benefits of various welfare schemes are being delivered to every OBC family through policy review, feedback and follow-up. Dhami said about 90 castes and sub-castes in the State are listed as OBCs. “The State government is committed to their development. State policies and budgets are formulated with the welfare of the poor, disadvantaged and vulnerable groups in mind. Social security schemes such as old-age, widow and disability pensions are effectively reaching those in need,’’ he said. The chairperson of the committee and Member of Parliament Ganesh Singh and other MPs Vijay Baghel, Swami Sachchidanand Hari Sakshi (Sakshi Maharaj), Vidyut Baran Mahato, Rodmal Nagar, Ramashankar Vidyarthi Rajbhar, Ashok Kumar Yadav, Girdhari Yadav, Mastan Rao Yadav, Rajendra Gehlot, Subhashish Khuntia, Mayank Kumar Nayak and Bhim Singh met the CM.
