PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun The President of India Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders have expressed sorrow on the death of former chief minister of Uttarakhand and cabinet minister major general (retd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri. In a message, the President said that after an illustrious career in the Indian Army, Khanduri presented an example of public service and politics of development with honesty, simplicity and transparency. She added that Khanduri will always be remembered for his commitment to the development of Uttarakhand and commitment for the public welfare. The vice president CP Radakrishnan said that with the demise of Khanduri, the nation has lost a distinguished soldier, an able administrator and a statesman of rare integrity. In his message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Khanduri gave invaluable contribution in armed forces and political spectrum. He said that Khanduri remained dedicated for the development of Uttarakhand and his tenure as cabinet minister will be remembered for improving connectivity in the country. The governor of Uttarakhand lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh said that Khanduri will always be remembered for his role in development of Uttarakhand and good governance. Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Khanduri set an unparalleled example of national service, discipline and dedication while serving in the Indian Army. “In public life, Khanduri forged a strong identity for Uttarakhand’s development, good governance, transparency, and honest work ethic. He took several important decisions in the state’s interest, providing a new direction to development. His simplicity, forthrightness and efficiency will always be a source of inspiration. His passing is an irreparable loss not only to Uttarakhand but also for the nation,’’ he said. The CM along with cabinet ministers and party leaders also paid homage to Khanduri’s mortal remains. In his condolence message, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal said that the death of Khanduri is an irreparable loss for the State and the country. Former chief ministers of Uttarakhand Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Trivendra Singh Rawat, Teerath Singh Rawat, Harish Rawat, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt, cabinet ministers and other leaders also paid homage to Khanduri.
