PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Addressing the special session of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly convened to mark 25 years of statehood on Monday, President Droupadi Murmu lauded the women power of the State as its greatest strength. “The great women like Gaura Devi, Bachendri Pal and Vandana Katariya have elevated the State to new heights,” she said. She also congratulated the State’s first female Speaker, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan and observed that the number of women members in the Assembly should increase in future. “Uttarakhand has made remarkable progress in the fields of women’s empowerment, environmental protection and education in the past 25 years,” she noted appreciatively.
