Prof HBS Chauhan appointed Director of the Birla Campus of Garhwal University

Srinagar (Garhwal), 19 Aug: The Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University administration has made significant changes to make the administrative functioning of the Birla Campus more effective and systematic. Professor HBS Chauhan of the University’s Department of Anthropology has been appointed Director of the Birla Campus. An office order was issued by the University Registrar on August 19, 2026, in this regard.

According to the office order, Professor Chauhan has been assigned this responsibility in addition to his current duties and responsibilities. His appointment will be effective for two years from the date of assuming charge or until the date of superannuation, whichever is earlier. The appointment was made by the Vice-Chancellor in accordance with the University Act, statutes, and relevant ordinances.

The position of Director of the Extension Campus-Chauras Campus has been renamed as Associate Director, Extension Campus-Chauras Campus. The Associate Director will be responsible for performing the duties assigned to him from time to time by the competent authority. The University has also decided to appoint two Joint Directors to assist the Director of the Birla Campus. These will include one male and one female faculty member. The Joint Directors will perform the duties and responsibilities assigned to them from time to time by the Director of the Birla Campus and the Vice-Chancellor. The University administration has directed all Deans, Heads of Departments, Campus Directors, Deans, Dean of Student Welfare, Proctors, Chief Hostel Superintendents, and related officials to provide the necessary support to the Director of the Birla Campus and the Associate Director of the Extension Campus-Chauras in the effective discharge of their responsibilities. This administrative change is being considered an important step towards making the administrative system at the University’s Birla Campus more effective, coordinated, and streamlined.
