Senior police officers meet to review Haridwar Khumb Mela plans

HARIDWAR, 19 Sep: Additional Director General of Police, Crime and Law & Order, Dr. V. Murugesan, chaired a high-level review meeting at the CCR auditorium to assess the preliminary preparations and security arrangements for Kumbh Mela 2027 in Haridwar.

The meeting was attended by Inspector General of Police, Crime and Law & Order Dr. Nilesh Anand Bharn, Inspector General of Police, Garhwal Range Rajiv Swaroop,  Inspector General of Police, Kumbh Mela Dr. Yogendra Singh Rawat, Senior Superintendent of Police Ayush Agrawal, Kumbh Mela, Superintendent of Police, Intelligence, Manikant Mishra,  Superintendent of Police, ATS Sarita Dobhal, Superintendent of Police, Traffic, Haridwar Nisha Yadav, Superintendent of Police, GRP Ms. Aruna Bharti, along with other senior officers.

At the outset, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kumbh Mela 2027, Haridwar, gave a presentation outlining the preparations undertaken so far and the proposed action plan for the coming period.

Thereafter, the Additional Director General of Police conducted a detailed review of various critical aspects of the security arrangements for Kumbh Mela 2027, traffic management, crowd control, disaster and emergency management, communication systems, use of digital technologies, and phased deployment of police personnel. He held discussions with the concerned officers and stressed the need to take the preparations forward in accordance with a concrete and comprehensive action plan.

He said that Kumbh Mela is the world’s largest religious and spiritual gathering. Ensuring its smooth and safe conduct, while providing better facilities and foolproof security to devotees arriving from across the country and abroad, should be the Uttarakhand Police’s highest priority.

The ADG issued necessary directions regarding the determination of zones, sectors and other police arrangements, availability and phased deployment of the required police force, and directed officers to complete all preparations in a time-bound manner through effective coordination with concerned departments and neighbouring districts to ensure robust security and traffic management in the Kumbh Mela area.

Following the review meeting, the Additional Director General of Police conducted an on-ground inspection of the Kumbh Mela area along with the officers present and reviewed various arrangements. Thereafter, he visited the ATC and interacted with personnel undergoing training for Kumbh Mela duty, taking stock of the progress of their training and their preparedness. During the interaction, he discussed key issues with the trained staff and concerned officers and provided guidance to further strengthen the arrangements.
