Suhail arrested in Almora for rape of minor

Almora, 13 Feb: Almora Police from the Danya police station area have arrested an accused identified as Suhail in connection with the sexual assault on a minor girl.  It is also alleged that the accused had also made obscene photographs and videos of the girl and threatened to circulate them. In addition, he also reportedly issued threats to kill her. Considering the sensitivity of the matter, senior police officers took immediate cognisance and formed a special team, which succeeded in apprehending the accused.
According to the police, a resident of the Danya police station area lodged a written complaint yesterday, alleging that his minor daughter had been sexually assaulted by a youth named Suhail. The complaint further stated that the accused had threatened to make objectionable videos and photographs viral and had also issued death threats. On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered at Danya police station under Sections 64 (2) (M) and 351 (3) of the Indian Penal Code along with Sections 5 (1)/6 of the POCSO Act. SSP Devendra Pincha treated the matter with seriousness and directed immediate arrest.
Under the supervision of ASP Harvansh Singh and CO Balwant Singh, a team led by Danya SHO Dinesh Nath Mahant was constituted to trace the accused. The police carried out intensive searches, gathering leads and raiding possible hideouts in order to apprehend him. Eventually, Suhail was arrested near Chapar Bend while he was moving from the roadside towards the forest.
Following his arrest, statutory legal proceedings are being undertaken and further investigation is in progress. The Police officials have stated that the accused is being produced before the court and then sent to jail. The Police have claimed that no person involved in such serious crimes will be spared. The arrested accused has been identified as Suhail, son of Mohammad Yunus, resident of Village Budhanpur, Police Station Bhagatpur, District Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh.
Almora Police have reiterated that the safety and justice of the victim remain their foremost priority.
