The Adi Kailash Parikrama Run will be held in the Vyas Valley from October 24 to 26 | Uttarakhand News Network

Atul Bhandari, Assistant Director of Tourism, stated that the ‘Adi Kailash Parikrama Run’—held in the Vyas Valley of the Dharchula development block in Pithoragarh district—ranks among India’s unique and challenging high-altitude marathons (ultra-runs). The Uttarakhand Tourism Department is organizing the second edition of this event this year with the aim of promoting adventure tourism in border areas and supporting the ‘Vibrant Village’ program. Main Hub and Base Camp: Gunji Village Gunji village has been designated as the main hub and base camp for this event. Held across snowy and extremely challenging terrain at altitudes ranging from approximately 10,500 to 15,000 feet above sea level, this race will serve as a unique test of thrill and endurance for the participants. Runners will traverse border areas of strategic and religious significance, including Gunji, Nabi, Kuti, and Jolingkong (Adi Kailash Base). This year, the 70-kilometer ultra-run will start at Jolingkong, proceed to Chiyalekh, and conclude back at Gunji. Meanwhile, the 42-kilometer full marathon, 21-kilometer half-marathon, and the 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer runs will start from Gunji, head towards Kuti, and finish back at Gunji. The schedule includes the 70-kilometer ultra-run and 42-kilometer full marathon on October 24, 2026; the 21-kilometer half-marathon, 10-kilometer run, and 5-kilometer run on October 25, 2026; and Mountain Terrain Biking (MTB) on October 26, 2026. Approximately 1,000 participants are expected to register for and compete in the Adi Kailash Parikrama Run-2026. The deadline for participant registration has been set for October 10, 2026. Through this event, the Tourism Department is making efforts to showcase the potential of the Adi Kailash region for nature, cultural, spiritual, and adventure tourism to the country and the world, while also promoting tourism activities in border villages.
