Till 1 PM, 35 per cent polling recorded in Kedarnath – myuttarakhandnews.com | Uttarakhand News in English | Dehradun News Today| News Uttarakhand | Uttarakhand latest news

my uttarakhand news/ RUDRAPRAYAG Till 1 PM for the Kedarnath Assembly bypoll, around 35 per cent voting was recorded. Polling started at 8 AM and will continue till 6 PM. Though polling started sluggishly it picked up momentum as the day progressed.   This high-stakes by- election was necessitated by the demise of the incumbent BJP MLA Shaila Rani Rawat in July this year. Though there are six candidates in the fray it is a straight fight between the BJP’s Asha Nautiyal and Congress’s Manoj Rawat.   The election department officials said that total of 173 polling booths have been set up in the constituency with CCTVs being installed in 130 of them, adding that the polling was so far peaceful. The State chief election officer BVRC Purushottam said that the polling centres were being directly monitored by them through webcasting from CCTV cameras.
