PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun In a major decision the Uttarakhand government has decided to undertake an audit of the Cooperative societies in the State. A decision in this regard was taken by the State cabinet in its meeting held on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Informing about the decisions of the cabinet, the director general (DG) Information Banshidhari Tiwari said that the cabinet approved the plan to create one post of deputy registrar (audit), level 11 for the period of five years in the Cooperative department. This will be a non-cadre post and the officers of the State Audit service will be deployed on this post on deputation. Tiwari said that at present an audit is not being done in the Cooperative department and after creation of this post, audit of the Cooperative committees at district, block and State level will be conducted. There are 670 cooperative committees in the State. In another decision, the State cabinet approved the proposal to merge two separate schemes of the Animal Husbandry department and Dairy Development department. Under the scheme of the Animal Husbandry department, a subsidy up to 90 per cent is given to the beneficiaries of scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) categories for purchase of cows.  A similar scheme titled ‘Ganga Gaye Yojana’ of the Dairy Development department, a subsidy up to 75 per cent is given to the farmers of all categories for purchase of a cow. Tiwari said that the government has decided to merge these two similar schemes. He said that the cabinet also endorsed the plan to reduce the training period of the livestock extension officers from existing two years to one year.  He informed that the cabinet in its meeting held on Wednesday also approved the proposal of mural work on the walls of the Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) Badrinath. The work will be done under the Badrinath Master plan.
