CM Dhami’s birthday observed as Yuva Sankalp Diwas

Dehradun, 16 Sep: On his birthday, today, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a “Yuva Sankalp Diwas” programme organised at Rangers Ground here. Expressing gratitude to the youth of the state for celebrating his birthday as Yuva Sankalp Diwas, he said that being amidst the energy and enthusiasm of young people is the greatest gift for him. He added that in their eyes he can see the vision of a developed and self-reliant Uttarakhand. On this occasion, he also viewed a photo exhibition at the venue.
The CM emphasised that the role of youth would be crucial in realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve of building a developed India by 2047, when the nation completes 100 years of independence. He said that the present generation would be leading the country and the state in various fields by then, and their talent, hard work and innovation would be vital in fulfilling the resolve of a developed Uttarakhand as part of a developed India.
He described the youth of Uttarakhand as hardworking, disciplined, talented and capable of facing challenges. Providing them with the right direction, better opportunities and a transparent environment is the priority of the state government. He said that the government is working to ensure that young people do not have to leave their homes, villages or the state out of compulsion to realise their dreams. The aim is to make them not only seekers of employment but also creators of jobs through entrepreneurship. He added the youth from the state can lead the nation’s progress in many spheres.
Mentioning the rapid changes brought by artificial intelligence, robotics, automation and digital technology, Dhami claimed that that the government is focusing on equipping youth with modern skills for future needs. Tourism, homestays and local products are being promoted to generate self-employment opportunities. Special industrial zones are being developed in Chamoli, Pauri and Almora districts to encourage industrial growth and local employment in the hill regions.
He said that the formation of the State Youth Commission is a significant step in connecting the aspirations of young people with policy-making. The commission would play an important role in promoting skill development, employment, entrepreneurship and innovation, and it would also empower the youth digitally and creating awareness against drug abuse, cybercrime and other social evils.
The CM also observed that Uttarakhand’s youth are excelling in sports at the national and international levels. Following the successful hosting of the 38th National Games, the state is now gaining recognition as a land of sports. The government is continuously working to improve sports facilities and provide better opportunities to players. He said that a strict anti-cheating law has been implemented to ensure transparency in recruitment processes and protect the future of hardworking youth.
Calling upon the youth to set big goals and work with dedication to achieve them, he quoted Swami Vivekananda’s message, “Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached.” He urged them to make hard work a habit, discipline their identity and learning a way of life. He advised them to use technology and mobile phones positively, not merely for entertainment but for enhancing knowledge and skills, and to verify every piece of information against facts in the age of social media.
Expressing concern over the growing tendency of drug abuse, he said that addiction not only weakens the body but also destroys dreams and the future.
On his birthday, the CM sought a “bouquet of three resolutions” from the youth: first, to set a big goal in life and work hard to achieve it; second, to stay away from drugs and encourage others to do the same; and third, to dedicate a part of their knowledge, experience and strength to the development of Uttarakhand, regardless of the field they succeed in.
Among those present on the occasion were Cabinet Ministers Khajan Das and Ganesh Joshi, BJP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLAs Vinod Chamoli, Savita Kapoor and Brijbhushan Gairola and Dehradun Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal.
