UPNL MD briefs Gov on personnel regularisation

Dehradun, 22 Sep: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) received a courtesy call on Tuesday from Brigadier JNS Bisht (Retd), Managing Director of UPNL, at the Lok Bhawan, here. During the meeting, the Governor sought information on various matters related to UPNL, including the regularisation of personnel working through UPNL and equal pay for equal work.
The Managing Director informed the Governor that action regarding the regularisation of UPNL personnel is currently underway at the government level. He also informed him that BRIDCUL, Dehradun, has been designated as the executing agency for construction of UPNL’s building on the land allotted to it at Sainyadham. Necessary action is being taken by BRIDCUL on UPNL’s proposal for construction of a Net-Zero Green Office Building.
He further informed the Governor that UPNL has completed the necessary procedures for operating a migrant manpower recruitment agency and has forwarded the proposal to the Government of India. Action regarding the issuance of the agency’s licence is currently underway at the Government of India level.
On the occasion, the Governor appreciated the efforts being made to make the proposed UPNL building modern, environmentally friendly and energy-efficient. He said, “The concept of a Net-Zero Green Office Building is in accordance with environmental protection and sustainable development.”
Regarding the migrant manpower recruitment agency, the Governor said that a transparent and reliable system is important to provide the youth of Uttarakhand with better employment opportunities in India and abroad. He directed that the necessary procedures in this regard be taken forward in accordance with the prescribed rules so that young people can access safe and better employment opportunities.
