
my uttarakhand news BureauDehradun, 1 Apr: The vocational education programme in 200 schools across the state will continue uninterrupted. In addition, in the academic session 2026-27, vocational education will be introduced in 544 more schools alongside traditional subjects. Departmental officials have been instructed to finalise contracts with private institutions at the earliest in this regard. Until new tenders are issued, institutions previously contracted will continue running the vocational education programmes.
In a statement to the media, School Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat said today that the vocational education programme is being conducted smoothly in the state’s 200 schools. Noting reports in newspapers about delays in the tender process, the minister strongly admonished departmental officials. He clarified that until the new tender process is completed, the previously contracted institutions will continue to operate vocational programmes in the 200 schools. This ensures continuity in teaching and safeguards students’ skill development.
Dr Rawat directed officials to initiate the tender process promptly for contracts with private institutions for the academic session 2026-27. He emphasised transparency, quality, and timely completion of all formalities. Additionally, he instructed that the quality of vocational courses in schools remains at a high standard, and departmental officers should ensure effective implementation and regular monitoring of the programmes at the school level.
From the next session, 544 additional schools will start vocational education programmes. Dr Rawat said the state government is committed to providing employment-oriented education, offering students practical knowledge and skills for better future job opportunities. The vocational curriculum will cover eight sectors: Agriculture, Automotive, Beauty & Wellness, Electronics & Hardware, IT, Plumbing, Retail, and Tourism & Hospitality.
