Dehradun, 2 Nov: The Rajpur Nature Fest 2025, held on 1-2 November at MDDA Park, Rajpur, celebrated Dehradun’s cultural and environmental heritage with an inspiring focus on sustainability and community engagement.
The Waste Warriors Society (WWS) played a key role as the event’s official Waste Managers. Their team, along with Changemakers, set up an informative stall near the main gate of the park, engaging visitors on waste segregation, recycling, and responsible disposal. The stall also featured products created by Self Help Group (SHG) women, who showcased and sold innovative articles made from upcycled old clothes; this was a creative display of circular economy in action.
Across the venue, WWS placed green and blue bins for wet and dry waste and distributed bin bags to all stalls for managing internal waste. At the end of the event, all collected waste was transported to the Waste Warriors’ Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at Harrawala, where the wet waste will be converted into compost and the dry waste will be recycled.
Their coordinated effort ensured the festival remained clean and litter-free, perfectly reflecting the theme of environmental responsibility. The collaboration between Waste Warriors, YUWA volunteers, and SHG women demonstrated how community-driven action can make sustainability both practical and impactful.
