The weather took a turn in Uttarakhand today, bringing fresh spell of snowfall to Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. The snowfall has resulted in biting cold across the region. According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, a significant change in weather conditions was anticipated in Uttarakhand today, Thursday March 19.
For the past few days, the high-altitude areas of the districtтАФincluding the Gangotri and Yamunotri have been experiencing substantial snowfall. Meanwhile, the lower regions have witnessed a sharp drop in temperature due to rainfall. Following the snowfall, apple growers and farmers cultivating other crops are beaming with joy; they note that rain and snow during the month of March prove highly beneficial for crop yields.
Approximately seven to eight inches of snow have accumulated at the Gangotri and Yamunotri. Additionally, about three to four inches of snow have fallen in Harsil and other high-altitude villages within Uttarkashi district, such as Geeth and Mori. In the lower regions, the skies remained overcast throughout the day following the rainfall, leading to a significant decline in temperatures.
