PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made three major announcements on completing three years of his second term in office on Sunday. His announcements were regarding students-youths, contract and Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) workers. He said that the State government will provide financial assistance to those preparing for competitive exams and graduates. A dedicated platform will be facilitated to enable employment oriented skill development and training for the eligible persons, he said. In addition to forming a high-level committee, the government will also introduce a concrete policy for regularisation of those employed through UPNL and contracts. In another major announcement, Dhami said that contracts in value upto Rs 10 crore will be awarded to local contractors belonging to Uttarakhand. Addressing the gathering at a programme held at Parade Ground here to mark three years of Dhami in office, the CM thanked the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the independence of the nation, statehood activists and the public. He said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the State has overcome various challenges and moved ahead. Dhami claimed that despite various challenges, the State had made considerable achievements during the past three years, which have been recognised across the nation. He said, “Because of some people who forget the constitution while talking, one gets to hear talk of regionalism and casteism. Anybody in Uttarakhand who talks of narrow regionalism or casteism is not only doing injustice to statehood activists but is also working against his or her motherland,” the CM said.Speaking about the government’s achievements during the past three years, the CM said that the government had focused on and enhanced education, health, road and air connectivity, and drinking water supply. The government has done considerable work to strengthen the State’s infrastructure. Apart from this, more than 30 new policies related to various sectors have been drafted and implemented. The CM also talked about the State’s performance when it comes to the Sustainable Development Index, citing the first rank the State had achieved in a category, along with recognition in the categories of startups and ease of doing business. Apart from citing the State government’s achievements, the CM also felicitated 13 children who are being rehabilitated in Dehradun after being rescued from child beggary.
