Dehradun, 3 Feb: Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmit Singh today felicitated NCC cadets of Uttarakhand who participated in the Republic Day Parade, at a special ceremony organised at Lok Bhawan in their honour. This year, a total of 172 NCC cadets from Uttarakhand took part in the Republic Day Parade held at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, along with various related activities. In the parade, Uttarakhand cadet Mansi Vishwakarma had led the Girl Contingent as Parade Commander. NCC cadets from Uttarakhand had also participated in the Prime Minister’s Rally held on 28 January 2026 at Cariappa Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt, where Senior Under Officer Cadet Utkarsh Sharma performed the role of Parade Commander.
Addressing the cadets at the function today, the Governor said that participation in national camps and the Republic Day Parade is the outcome of discipline, hard work and dedication. He added that being part of such a prestigious national event is a matter of pride that becomes a lifelong memory. Singh stressed that the learning and exposure gained through this experience inspire cadets to work for the nation and society with confidence and commitment.
The Governor also observed that selection for an occasion like Republic Day is the result of firm determination and continuous practice, adding that NCC cadets of Uttarakhand have carved out a distinct identity among cadets from across the country due to their excellent training and discipline. He emphasised that the core values of unity and discipline imparted through NCC should be adopted throughout life, as NCC activities play a vital role in character building and overall personality development.
Specially praising Girl Contingent Parade Commander Cadet Mansi Vishwakarma, the Governor said that by leading the contingent at Kartavya Path she has demonstrated that today’s Indian women are not merely participating but are leading from the front. He described her as a symbol of strength, confidence and as the capability of the daughters of Uttarakhand and an inspiration for future generations.
Appreciating the achievement of Cadet Prince Singh Rana, who was awarded the Defence Minister’s Medal for outstanding performance in drone training, the Governor said that this accomplishment reflects the preparedness of the youth for future warfare technologies, innovation, and emerging security challenges of the 21st century. He observed that the present era is one of rapid technological change, where drones, robotics, artificial intelligence, and precision warfare have assumed special importance, and said that Uttarakhand’s NCC cadets have proved they are not only proficient in traditional military discipline but also capable of adapting to modern technologies and future challenges. He described the cadets as symbols of the nation’s valour, determination, and leadership.
During the programme, the officers of the NCC Directorate briefed the Governor about activities ranging from the cadets’ selection process to their participation in Republic Day events. The Governor also interacted with the cadets and learned about their experiences, while NCC cadets presented cultural dance performances during the ceremony.
Congratulating the cadets on their achievements, the Governor extended his best wishes for their future endeavours.
