PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun The process of Census -2027 in Uttarakhand was launched by governor lieutenant general ( retd) Gurmit Singh through self- enumeration at Lok Bhawan on Friday. The governor started the first phase of the Census in the State by filling his details through self-enumeration. More than 5.72 lakh households countrywide availed the benefit of the self-enumeration on the very first day. In a programme held to launch the exercise, the governor appealed to the people of the State to ensure their active participation in this important national campaign and provide accurate and complete information through self-enumeration. He said that this web portal has been designed to be easy and user-friendly, allowing even the common person to enter all the information without any hassle. The governor also urged the youth and social organizations to cooperate in this process and help others in using digital media, so that no one is left out of this process. The director, Directorate of Census Operations, Ministry of Home Affairs, Eva Ashish Srivastava informed that under the first phase in Uttarakhand, the work of house listing and house counting will be conducted from April 25 to May 24, 2026. She said that prior to the door-to-door survey, residents of the State have been provided the facility to self-enumerate themselves from April 10 to April 24, 2026. During this period, citizens can digitally enter information about themselves and their families by logging on to se.census.gov.in portal using their mobile number and required details. Secretary, Census, Uttarakhand, Deepak Kumar Gairola said that the citizens have been provided with the facility of self-enumeration, which is a secure and web-based system. He informed that the second phase of the Census-2027 will commence from February 9 in the State. He said that the census work will be mobile application based.
