Minister Ganesh Joshi distributes laptops to Visually Impaired Students at NIVH

Dehradun, 27 May: Cabinet Minister participated as the Chief Guest in a laptop distribution programme organised at the campus of the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIVH). On the occasion, laptops were distributed to 24 visually impaired students of the institute’s model school under the CSR initiative to support them in higher education and preparation for competitive examinations.
Addressing the programme, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi said that modern technology is opening new avenues of opportunities in the lives of persons with disabilities. He stated that such initiatives motivate students to become self-reliant and achieve their dreams. Minister Ganesh Joshi congratulated and extended his best wishes to the officials of ONGC for this commendable initiative.
Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi said that Prime Minister introduced the term “Divyang” in place of “Viklang”, conveying a new message of dignity and sensitivity in society. He said that, under the leadership of the Prime Minister, several schemes are continuously being implemented for the welfare of persons with disabilities and senior citizens, with the objective of making their lives more accessible, dignified, and self-reliant.
Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi further stated that the state government is continuously working to ensure equal access to education, healthcare, livelihood, and social security for persons with disabilities. He added that the government’s effort is to ensure that every individual in society becomes part of the mainstream of development and progresses forward.
It is worth noting that last year as well, the institute had provided laptops to students, following which two visually impaired students from the school successfully qualified the JEE examination. During the programme, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi also appealed to nearly 300 employees working at the institute to observe every Friday as a “No Vehicle Day” and use bicycles or public transport. He said that this initiative would help promote environmental conservation, reduce pollution, and encourage a healthier lifestyle.
On the occasion, ONGC’s Neeraj Sharma, Principal Amit Sharma, Sanjay Nautiyal, and a large number of students were also present.
