‘No Vehicle Day’ Every Week: Uttarakhand Cabinet Rolls Out Sweeping Fuel Conservation Measures – my uttarakhand news

Several significant decisions regarding energy and fuel conservation were taken during the Uttarakhand Cabinet meeting on May 13. Under these measures, one day of the week will be designated as a ‘No Vehicle Day.’ Additionally, the number of vehicles included in the official convoys (fleets) of the Chief Minister and other ministers will be reduced by half. Government employees will be required to utilize public transportation.

Meetings in Government Departments via VC; Emphasis on ‘Work from Home’

Under this initiative, video conferencing-based meetings will be actively promoted within government departments. The ‘Work from Home’ model will also be encouraged in the private sector. Furthermore, the general public will be encouraged to make greater use of public transportation.

One ‘No Vehicle Day’ Per Week; Fleet Sizes to be Reduced

The number of vehicles in the convoys of the Chief Minister and ministers will be halved. One day each week will be declared a ‘No Vehicle Day.’ Employees will work from home on this day as part of the ‘Work from Home’ policy. The general public will also be encouraged to observe a ‘No Vehicle Day’ once a week.

Government Employees to Use Public Transportation

Efforts will be made to limit the use of air conditioners (ACs) in both government and private buildings. Concurrently, the Transport Department has been directed to enhance the services and capacity of public bus networks. Government employees will be encouraged to utilize public transportation. Officers holding charge of multiple departments will be restricted to using a maximum of one official vehicle per day.

New Government Fleet to Include 50% Electric Vehicles (EVs)

An effective Electric Vehicle (EV) policy will be introduced shortly. Going forward, 50 percent of all new government vehicle procurements will mandatorily consist of EVs. The network of charging stations for electric vehicles will be expanded on a priority basis.

Domestic Tourism to be Boosted via ‘Visit My State’ Campaign

Domestic tourism will be promoted through the ‘Visit My State’ campaign. Extensive publicity and promotional efforts will be undertaken for the state’s heritage, religious, wellness, rural, and eco-tourism circuits. The state government will provide incentives for ‘Destination Weddings’ and establish a ‘Single Window Clearance’ system to facilitate them. Uttarakhand has already taken proactive steps in this direction. Limit Gold Purchases for One Year

Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) will be encouraged to spend their vacations in Uttarakhand. Public awareness campaigns, such as ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan’ (My India, My Contribution), will be launched. Under the ‘Made in State’ initiative, the sale of local products will be boosted. ‘Make in India’ norms will be strictly adhered to in government procurement. Citizens will be sensitized to limit their gold purchases for a period of one year.
