Dehradun, 16 Apr: Commissioner/Secretary, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Anand Swaroop, stated today that the Rabi marketing season has started in the state of Uttarakhand from 1 April 2026. A total of 45 procurement centres are operating in the Garhwal division and 123 in the Kumaon division. The Government of India has fixed the minimum support price of wheat at Rs 2585, due to which farmers are showing interest in selling their produce (wheat) at government procurement centres.
Till date, 1597 farmers have registered on the Smart PDS portal and 5852 quintals of wheat has been procured.He added that the Government of India had earlier set a target of 10,000 quintals for the state of Uttarakhand, due to which the farmers of the state were expressing anger over not being able to sell their produce.On the request of the state government, the Government of India has increased the target of 10,000 quintals to 5 lakh quintals keeping in view the inclination and interests of the farmers of the state.He has appealed to the farmers of the state to take advantage of the minimum support price by selling their produce at government procurement centres.
